Music and Artistic Director

The Music and Artistic Director is a part time position and the chief artistic officer of The Master Chorale of Tampa Bay, a 120 all volunteer chorus. S/he reports to the Board of Trustees while working in conjunction, and in consultation with, the Executive Director. S/he works closely with the Executive Director to fulfill the Chorale’s vision, mission, programmatic and artistic goals as articulated by the Board, and is expected to lead The Master Chorale’s artistic endeavors with energy and artistic and entrepreneurial vision. His/her primary role is to plan and develop every aspect of the self produced performances by the chorus as well as preparing the chorus to sing with the Florida Orchestra. The Music and Artistic Director also works collaboratively with the Executive Director and Board to implement strategies for the Chorale’s audience development and financial support. This part-time position with a salary of $35,000 has historically been paired with a full-time position in the University of South Florida’s School of Music and applicants are strongly encouraged to apply to http://music.arts.usf.edu/employment

Requirements:

  • Doctorate preferred or an advanced music degree from an accredited program with equivalent years of choral conducting experience

  • Demonstrated success in directing a chorus of similar (or larger) size with similar artistic goals

  • Experience in planning and executing concert programs

  • Facility in arrangement (including SATB, SSAA and TTBB)

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with ability to meet schedules, time lines and budgets
