Realizing that the present members of the Chorale and the administration were not familiar with the early board members or what they had done to give birth to The Master Chorale, Robert Summer decided to write this book to honor those people and the singers.  The book deals with the first twenty years' history of The Master Chorale, documenting concerts, programs, reviews, board membership, the Choral Masterworks Festivals with their guests and soloists, and other aspects.  It also includes anecdotes surrounding the concerts as remembered by Summer.

Robert Summer founded The Master Chorale in 1979 and conducted it for sixteen years.  At the same time, he served as Director of Choral Activities at USF.  He has published articles in the American Choral Directors Association's "Choral Journal" and the Florida Music Educators Association's "Florida Music Director." His book "Choral Masterworks from Bach to Britten: Reflections of a Conductor" was published in 2007, and his "Renaissance Music for the Choral Conductor: A Practical Guide" in 2013.
