Amadeus Live
with The Florida Orchestra
September 13 and 14
Experience the multi-Academy Award® winning 1984 motion picture Amadeus on a vast HD screen while Mozart’s most celebrated works are performed live in-sync by The Florida Orchestra and a choir. A sumptuous period epic, Amadeus is a triumphant celebration of the greatest genius the world has ever known: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Winner of eight Academy Awards®, including Best Picture, Actor, Director and Adapted Screenplay, Amadeus tells the story of Vienna court composer Antonio Salieri (F. Murray Abraham) and the envy that consumes him upon discovering that the divine musical gifts he has so longed for all his life have been bestowed on a bawdy, vulgar and impish young composer, Mozart (Tom Hulce). Salieri’s envy fuels his plot to destroy the man, who is unable to tear himself away from the genius of his music. Rated PG. Presented with English subtitles.

My Love Is mine
Johannes Brahms once referred to his Liebeslieder Walzer as “Hausmusik,” meaning music for the home. These playful but sincerely intimate waltzes feature four-hand piano and center on the theme of love in its many forms. Where Brahms captures the fleeting charm, flirtation, and ache of romantic love, Jonathan Dove’s The Passing of the Year expands the scope, setting vivid poetry that reflects on love, loss, and renewal across the changing seasons of life. Framing these two centerpieces are works by Rosephanye Powell, Moses Hogan, Josephine Poelinitz. This program is a journey from the first sparks of affection to love’s enduring presence through time.
