Omaris Torres-frey Assistant conductor

Omaris Torres-Frey is the Associate Conductor of the Master Chorale of Tampa Bay and has served as a singer, conductor, adjudicator, and clinician in both Arizona and Florida. Mrs. Torres-Frey has been an educator in the public school system for 7 years and has taught additional courses, including orchestra, guitar, world music, and music for special needs students throughout her teaching career. She currently serves as the Director of Choirs at Olympia High School.

Choirs under Mrs.Torres-Frey’s direction have garnered praise for their artistry, sensitivity, and expression, receiving Superior and Superior with Distinction ratings at district and state assessments. Mrs. Torres-Frey’s advanced mixed ensemble, MasterSingers, were selected as finalists for Bach Festival Choir’s Choir of Distinction for the 2022-2023 competition. Valuing both group and individual musicianship, Mrs. Torres-Frey has had over 100 students selected for All-County and All-State Choirs.

Mrs. Torres-Frey’s educational influence extends beyond the classroom. She has served as a Chancel Choir, Bell Choir, and Youth Music director at various churches throughout Florida and Arizona. She’s prepared choirs, orchestras, and bells for liturgy and special services, emphasizing the interconnectedness of worship and scripture.

As a performer, Mrs. Torres-Frey has performed with Helios Ensemble, Tucson MasterWorks Chorale, University of Arizona University Community Chorus and Orchestra, and Bach Festival Choir of Winter Park and Orchestra. She has also performed as an ensemble member with Tucson Symphony Orchestra Chorus and True Concord Voices & Orchestra.

Mrs. Torres-Frey earned her Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance and Conducting from Rollins College studying under Dr. John Sinclair and Dr. Heather Mitchell. She completed a graduate internship with the Tucson Girls Chorus with Dr. Marcela Molina and her Masters of Music at The University of Arizona, studying under Dr. Bruce Chamberlain and Dr. Elizabeth Schauer.
